Cranberry Weavers

Six professional women on Cape Cod, with nearly 70 years combined experience weaving Nantucket Lightship Baskets, get together every Friday afternoon to weave, discuss ideas for new projects, critique each other's work, share tools and supplies, and socialize. Their Nantucket Baskets range from simple napkin rings and bracelets, to more complex berry baskets with handles, flower vases, house number plates, bread baskets, guest towel trays, totes, and serving trays, to very labor intensive purses with hinged lids, fabric linings, leather handles, and ivory scrimshaw ornamentation. No matter how simple or complex the project, these women take great pride in everything they create, always striving for artistic perfection.
